You’re all used to seeing me overhaul my blog design on a regular basis but my current design incarnation happened for a reason. When I first started blogging I did so for a reason – to share my love of fashion. But along the way the fashion aspect seemed to get lost. So I’m returning to my blogging roots as a fashion blogger, I’ll still be doing design related posts and beauty but you can expect to see a lot more fashion posts on this blog and I decided my blog design should reflect this. As a design blog it was okay to regularly change the look of this blog but as a fashion blogger a uniform look is quite important so i’ll be trying hard to not fiddle with it too much (trying being the operative word). Anyway enough about that, lets get down to the subject of this post! I’ve been a fan of Japanese fashion designers for a very long time. Of course everyone knows about Issey Miyake, Comme des Garcons, Yohji Yamamoto and Hanae Mori. They’re all iconic Japanese designers with a worldwide presence and their unique style means they have fans everywhere. But there is a whole new breed of Japanese designers out there that aren’t quite so well known and I wanted to introduce you to a few of them. G.V.G.V. G.V.G.V. is a Japanese brand headed up by chief designer MUG who also created the brand. Their S/S collection takes inspiration from 1950′s America and has a pin up girl vibe to it. Luxury fabrics, pastel colours and 50′s prints combine to create a truly memorable collection. The brand has shown at Tokyo Fashion Week and they’ve also worked with Uniqlo. This collection is perfect for the modern day female who desires well constructed clothes that retain their feminine appeal. Plumpynuts Plumpynuts is the brainchild of designers Miyuki Omichi and Ayuma Kita. This brands exudes a sense of effortless cool with a definite nod to the eighties. These photos are from their AW12 collection – look at all that colour. I love who they mix ifferent materials together and that their collection also includes loads of colour which is fairly unusual for an AW collection. Their jackets particularly appeal to me. Fig & Viper Out of all three this one appeals to me most and suits my style aesthetic perfectly. Fig & Viper manage to fuse romanticism with an almost rock style toughness. If you look at my outfit posts you’ll notice that I tend to toughen up pretty girly dresses and skirts with leather jackets or ‘fuck me’ shoes. This collection suits me down to the ground and if money was no object my whole wardrobe would come from here. Discussion time! Which brand is your favourite, let me know in the comments. 2 Responses Cyn August 27th, 2012 Thanks for sharing. G.V.G.V. is adorbs.
