Freebie – Media Kit Template

Media-Kit-Template

So I tweeted earlier asking who’d be interested in a free media kit template and I got a resounding YES! So above you’ll see the template I’ve created. It is basic but should suit the needs of most blogs. Media kits are a great resource for bloggers and brands that may want to work with your blog. It gives an overview of your stats, follower count and the services you offer.

You can also add ad rates/sponsored post rates etc. I tailor my rates depending on the brand which is why I don’t include these in my media kit. Every aspect of this media kit is editable via powerpoint. Powerpoint is the best program for creating media kits as you can save it in pdf format. If you’re on WordPress you can insert the media kit in pdf format directly into a page (like I have).

Below you can download the media kit in both .pdf and .ppt (powerpoint). Enjoy!

My Favourite Blogs – Top 5

Untitled-2

Untitled-2

I read a LOT of blogs. Partly for design inspiration but mostly because I LOVE blogs. My job means I discover a lot of blogs and i’m lucky in that I’ve designed for some of my favorite bloggers. The blogosphere is becoming over-populated and the blogs that appeal to me are those that are a bit different. I don’t just read fashion and beauty blogs I read all kinds of different ones. Variety is the spice of life after all. In this post I’ll be introducing you to a few of my favourites and I’d love to hear what your favorites are in the comments section.

British Beauty Blogger

Jane’s blog British Beauty Blogger is a must read for all beauty lovers. This lady really knows her stuff and she’s my first port of call when I’m looking for a new beauty purchase. She is always 100% honest and I trust her opinion completely. She’s always often the first to write about new launches and releases. I consider Jane a good friend and she really is one of the loveliest people I’ve ever met.

Musings of a Muse

I love asian beauty and this lovely blog loves it as much as me. This blog is full of excellent in depth reviews of some of my favorite brands. But she doesn’t just cover asian beauty she’s also extremely knowledgeable on western beauty brands. Her site is a dream to visit. It is easy to navigate and very easy on the eye. I am a sucker for good design.

Big Fashionista

Kellie is probably the funniest lady on the planet. Seriously she should be doing stand up. Her blog is a great no holds barred read. You can ogle at hot men, chuckle at her unique way of examining social issues and nod your head in agreement as she hits the nail on the head. One blogger I can’t wait to meet in the real non-blogging world.

Grit and Glamour

I’ve been reading Vahni’s blog for a long time now (2 and a half years). She has an amazing sense of style, her photography is always flawless and she’s to the point. I love strong, sassy, headstrong females and that is exactly how she is. She is very invested in the blogging community and her blog has helped foster this community. If I ever visit the states V is one person at the top of the list of bloggers I want to meet.

Rachel Phipps

One of my favorite lifestyle blogs. Rachel is a British girl currently residing in LA (jealous much?). Her blog is full of tasty recipes, restaurant reviews, style posts and other life stuff. Another blogger I’ve actually met and liked. Like V she is headstrong and opinionated but that is why I like her so much. We may not share political affiliations but I love her style and her recipes are easy to follow and utterly tasty.

A Day in My Life

IMG_0746

The theme for today’s Blog Everyday in May is ‘a day in the life’. I like this theme as I get to bore you with my mundane life. In case you didn’t know I earn a living as a freelance blog/small business website designer. I adore my job for many reasons but the main one is that design is my passion so earning a living from what you love is the ultimate aim. So this is what the average day looks like:#

9am – Wake up and grab a very strong coffee. I can’t function without an americano or cappucino.

930am – Have a shower or bath and put on a little makeup. Usually just a little foundation and my trusty Revlon lip butter.

10.00am – Check my emails and tweets and send replies.

10.15am – Stroll to the local shops and grab some brekkie.

10.45am – Take a look at my schedule and do some designing.

3pm – Grab a late lunch and get the kids from school.

3.30pm Buckle down and do some more design work.

5.30pm Give the kids their dinner.

7pm – Put the little ones to bed.

8pm – 9.30pm BLOG!

9.30pm – Crack on with more work. I’m a bit of a night owl so I like working when it is dark and quiet.

2am – Settle down with some trashy American TV programme in bed.

3am – Drift off to sleep.

Most days look like this. I have such an exciting life ha! I’m a pretty happy person though and I have a good life.Three amazing sons and a job I love.

What would your average day look like?

Schwarzkopf Professional BC Fibre Force at Hensmans

20130503_124540

Earlier this week I took myself off to Henmans Salon in Milton Keynes to try out Schwarzkopf’s BC Fibre Force treatment. Fibre Force is a new treatment and product range that is formulated to repair damaged hair and make it soft and strong again. It works by using micronized keratins that penetrate deep into the hair shaft to help repair and strengthen the hair. The product range consists of a shampoo, conditioner in both spray and rinse out form, a fortifier treatment and a keratin infusion.

Hensmans is a beautiful salon with friendly and helpful staff in swish surroundings. It is situated in winter gardens which is located next to the shopping centre. I was excited about trying out the treatment since I have been dyeing my hair every few months for the last 5 years so my hair was in desperate need of repair. I was seen by the lovely James who was very knowledgeable, amiable and friendly. He talked me through the treatment including how it works and the various stages. Having the treatment done was a very pleasant experience. The majority of it was spent reclining in their massage chairs while I had my head massaged. Those chairs were to dye for. Can I have one in my house please. They felt as good as getting a professional massage. I rreally didn’t want to get up from the chair ever. It was that good.

Afterwards the lovely James taught me the best way to blow dry my hair and sent me home with the products I need to recreate it at home. I never seem to be able to achieve the same result at home so being taught to blow dry my hair was very welcome. When I left the ssalon my hair was super soft, very smooth and sleek and a whole lot stronger. I highly recommend this treatment if you need to revitalise your hair and if you are in Milton Keynes pay Henmans a visit.

Visit the Hensmans salon online here or if you live further afield find out where you can find a participating salon or purchase the products for home use here

Spring is Here

Spring has finally arrived. After a winter that never seems to end the sunshine has finally arrived. When the weather is as lovely as it has been today I love to go for a walk around the town. I’m from Milton Keynes which is deemed the new town. I love my town but the fact that its new means it can lack character. So every so often I venture into nearby Newport Pagnell for a wander. It is full of old building, greenery, rivers and charity shops. It is very pictureque and very traditionally British.

What’s the first thing you do when the nice weather arrives?

Asian Fashion – Playful and Fun – Banila B

img_01 img_02 img_03 img_04 img_05 img_06 img_07 img_08

Banila B is another Korean brand that’s firmly on my radar. Banila B is a purveyor of comfortable everyday clothing. Think comfort with a girly edge. Their collections are chic, unique and wearable. Korea is obsessed with overtly feminine and very girly collections and some of them can be a bit too saccharine sweet but Banila B has the balance spot on.

Their collections have three distinct themes. Urchin, Utilitarian and Streetwise,

The urchin theme combines prints and textures and possesses a girly, playful feel.. It’s also quite kitschy in its direction. Utilitarian is very minimalist in design, full of clean lines and elegant styling. While streetwise is contemporary, urban and very much like lue sportswear.

Banila B is often worn by Kpop sensation Girls’ Generation.
