Berlin based and Laos born designer Hien Le has one design motto – simplicity, style and quality and his SS13 collection certainly adheres to this ethos. Influenced by cult 80s TV show Miami Vice. It may not seem the most obvious connection but the collection certainly inherits some of Don Johnsons trademark look with its light colour scheme and well tailored, crisp separates. The colours and shapes of this collection take inspiration from the Art Deco Miami Vice Scene. He has utilised high quality materials such as silk, cotton and wool as well as relatively unknown fabric Alcantara. The colour scheme mainly consists of neutrals fused with mind, lilac and coral.
It is a beautiful collection that features well designed, well made pieces. It has a sportswear luxe feel that is reminiscent of Christian Blankens SS12 collection. It is also extremely wearable with an understated elegance to it.
