Japan is a country with a unique sense of self and a very unique culture. Of course it is well known for its inhabitants outlandish dress sense and beautiful scenery but it is so much more than that. For example did you know that Japan is the biggest producer of cosmetics in the world and boy do they create some truly amazing, innovative products. Japanese girls really do have their beauty routines nailed. It is rare to see a Japanese woman with bad skin and it isn't all down to genetics.

Of course you all know of iconic Japanese brands like Shiseido and Shu Uemura but they don't fully encompass the variety and quality of the Japanese cosmetics industry. In this post I'll introduce you to 3 Japanese skincare brands that produce amazing, high quality and effective products. By the end of this post I hope I will have convinced you to give them a try.

FANCL

Japanese Skincare Brands

If you have sensitive skin and suffer from product related skin issues or breakouts then this is the brand for you.

FANCL is a brand that spans skincare, cosmetics and supplements. Unlike most skincare ranges their products contain no preservatives. Of course preservatives help products last longer but they can also irritate the skin thanks to the inclusion of alkalis and thickening agents which clog your pores and can dull your complexion. Their cosmetics line is also preservative free. Their skincare line covers everyday products and treatments targeted at specific skin conditions. They launched in North America in the late 90s so if you are an American reader you'll find their ranges easily available.

Juju Cosmetics

Japanese Skincare Brands

Juju Cosmetics is a Japanese skincare brand with a rich heritage dating back to the 1940s. They create luxury style products for those on a budget. Their first product Madame Juju Cream is as popular now as it was 60 years ago. This is a testament to the quality of the product. Their hyaluronic skincare range has achieved cult status thanks to it's effectiveness and low price. The range includes treatments, masks, scrubs, cleansers and moisturisers. The packaging is simple but effective and their products really do make a difference to your skin. I've found that they brighten my skintone and keep it hydrated. I highly recommend you give them a try.

Astalift

Japanese Skincare Brands

Astalift is a range that many if you may have heard of. It is a premium skincare brand aimed at preventing and treating the signs of ageing. It is technologically based skincare. This method of creating great skincare products is particularly popular in Japan. Astalift products contain collagen (well known for skin regeneration) and anti-oxidants. Astalift is made to do its magic deep into the layers of the skin and is great as a preventative measure.

What may surprise you is that Astalift is owned by Fujifilm. Yes the camera film makers and they took technology acquired from the making of camera film and applied it to Astalift. Now Astalift isn't cheap but it is widely available in the Uk. Debenhams even sell it. It has become something of a cult product and is loved by beauty editors everywhere.

So there you have it, those are 3 of my favorite Japanese skincare brands.
