I’m a huge fan of Louise Gray. Along with Meadham Kirchoff she puts on the best and the most colourful London Fashion Week shows. Her aesthetic pleases me as it is so over the top girly and full of a wide array of colours. I love colour as you can probably tell. Her designs invite you into a world full of vitality and joie de vivre and it is infectious. So when I heard that she was creating a clothing and makeup line in collaboration with Topshop, I was excited.
At around £200 a piece, the clothing is a bit out of my reach but the makeup line falls in line with Topshop’s usual prices (a little higher but not by much and still less than MAC). So as soon as it struck midnight I was on the Topshop website waiting for the pieces to become available, I actually waited till 2am but in the end fall asleep from sheer exhaustion. When I awoke at 8.30 the collection was online but I decided I was too impatient to wait so headed into town to check out my local Topshop store and lo and behold there it was. A candy coloured cornacopia of beauty. The packaging is divine and I immediately snapped up the gorgeous Lipstick and nail varnish in the photos above. Now usually I wouldn’t buy green polish but the sparkle in it caught my eye. The lipstick is in a shade called Legend, they also do a peachy shade and the polish also comes in a pink and a blue.
The collection also includes a beautiful looking makeup brush set, eyeshadow palettes, eye creams, eyeliner and mascara. Oh and when you buy two items you get the mirror above for free.
This lipstick actually looks more pigmented in the arm swatch than it does on my lips but then my lips are very dark naturally. I love this colour it is a gorgeous pink and it is actually very wearable. In the tube it looks super bright but in reality it is a more muted shade. It has a sheer finish to it and lasts well. It feels very light on the lips and at times I forgot I was wearing it. It glides on easily unlike some other lipsticks I could name and it applies evenly. All in all I am impressed with this lipstick and I’ll definitely be getting a lot of wear out of it. At £10 it is slightly more expensive than Topshop’s usual price for lipstick but the packaging is beautiful and it is a lovely lipstick.
Now I wish I’d bought the peach one too, may have to go back tomorrow.
