2013′s Best Beauty Products

Oh what a year it has been. The beauty world has been buzzing with new releases, hero products and new brands launching. The beauty market is heavily saturated these days which is great for consumers as it has given us more choice than ever before. This year I have morphed from a girl addicted exclusively to high street products to a savvy beauty junkie with a taste for high-end brands. Of course I still buy a lot from the high street but my collection is now peppered with luxury beauty brands.

As the year is ending I thought it would be great to take a look at the products I’ve loved this ear. My choices are divided up into four sections – hair care, skin care, body and makeup/fragrance.

Soap & Glory Butter Yourself Body Cream – an easily absorbed but rich body cream perfect for the harsh winter months. This product was my first foray into the world of Soap and Glory but certainly not m last.

Dirty Works Buttery Salt Scrub – perfect for sloughing off dead skin without irritating the skin. The perfect bargain body scrub which was an impulse purchase whilst I was food shopping.

Sanctuary Spa Body Moisture Spray – I’ve become a big fan of oils over the last year and this is one of two body oil sprays that feature in my list. This was a discovery made through my love of reading beauty blogs.

LUSH Vanilla Puff Dusting Powder – I love a bit of lush goodness and this is perfect for applying to my body before a night out. It smells delicious and leaves the skin silky soft.

Garnier Ultimate Beauty Oil Skin Perfector  – The 2nd body oil in the list. Leaves skin feeling soft and hydrated.

Clinique Repairwear Laser Eye Cream – The eye cream to beat all eye creams. Hydrates the eye area and absorbs nicely. So many people overlook eye cream but the area around the eyes is the one area that can’t hydrate itself so an eye cream is a must.

The Body Shop Chamomile Cleansing Oil & Balm – For a long time I thought that cleansing oils would leave my skin feeling oilier but actually this is completely untrue. 2013 really was the year that oils entered my beauty routine and now I couldn’t be without them. This duo works really well for double cleansing the skin and they are reasonably priced too. These make great alternative to the Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm and Shu Uemura’s Cleansing oil and are a fraction of the price.

Bioderma Miscellar Water – this is a product that doesn’t really need an introduction. One of the biggest cult skin care purchases of the past year.

Lancome Gel Eclat – great for cleansing the face in a hurry. This creamy face wash removes all dirt quickly and easily and leaves skin feeling clean without being tight.

Tresemme Keratin Smooth Shampoo & Conditioner – the perfect budget shampoo & conditioner duo. Silky smooth hair can be yours with this set and the bottles are so big that ou won’t run out for ages. LOVE!

Mazuri Olive Oil Sheen Spray – shiny hair looks healthier and more polished. This spray adds a very minute mist of argan oil onto my locks making hair look glossy and shiny. The can is huge and it just costs a few quid.

Palmers coconut Oil Hair-dress – perfect for dry locks. This product is best used to regain sheen between hair washes. Formulated for afro hair but perfect for all hair types.

Schwarzkopf Osis Session Label Silk Shine Cream – Use this little beauty before blow drying hair and your locks will be smoother, more manageable and glossier. The whole range is great but this is my hero product.

Cosmetics and Fragrance

Marc Jacobs Honey Fragrance – the newest addition to my fragrance collection but already my favorite. A unique scent that is suitable for daytime and nighttime wear. The bottle is adorable too. I’m a sucker for a pretty bottle.

Giorgio Armani Rouge Ecstasy Lipstick – a lipstick that fuses lipstick and lip balm. Is highly moisturizing, doesn’t feather and comes in a huge selection of shades. Armani Beauty never fail to wow me.

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation – the cult favorite is cult for a reason. Beloved by hordes of beauty blogger. Gives skin a flawless finish without making you look like you’re wearing a mask. The perfect all round foundation. Coverage is medium to full.

Other favorites – L’Oreal Nude Magique CC Cream , Illamasqua Lipstick in Kontrol, Chanel Rouge Allure and Bobbi Brown’s bronzing brick.
